Future of Festivals - Der PodcastBeyond the Burger: Vielfalt, Versorgung und Visionen für die Festival-Gastro

    0:00 / 0:00 143,1 MB

Rethinking Intoxication – Drug Checking, Spiking & Safer Festivals

    0:00 / 0:00 110,4 MB

Beer consumption is declining, alcohol-free options are booming – yet the topic of substances remains highly relevant at festivals.

What do concepts for drug checking and safer partying look like when traditional alcohol culture fades and new risks like spiking emerge? This panel brings together different perspectives to explore how festivals can remain safe, responsible, and still fun.

With input from Jördis Brankatschk (UNYTED Festival), Dawn Dines (Stamp Out Spiking), and Rüdiger Schmolke (eclipse e.V. / Chill out e.V. / SONICS e.V.), the discussion will highlight practical experiences from prevention work, festival production, and advocacy. The session is moderated by Emiko Gejic (Berlinsidestories).

We’ll ask: What strategies exist to minimize risks? How can approaches from different fields be combined? And where are festivals headed that want to rethink intoxication? A conversation about safety, harm reduction, and the future of festival culture.

    Frequenzen sichern, Kultur schützen

    0:00 / 0:00 120,5 MB

Reusable systems have become more than just an ecological measure – they are testbeds for technical and logistical innovation. From smart deposit apps and mobile washing units to interoperable return stations: new tools and processes are transforming festival operations and creating scalable solutions with potential for urban life.

Leonie Gerner (GG Productions) will moderate the discussion featuring Vanessa Esslinger (ProjectTogether), who shares insights from large-scale pilot projects, Jonas Gudegast (Breminale), who brings experience from municipal event practice, and Lukas Vandenbogaerde (Goodless), who demonstrates how digital systems are reshaping return logistics and user experience. Together, they’ll explore what already works, where the challenges lie – and how festivals are becoming innovation labs for a circular future.
